Cooks of Crocus Hill is hiring Retail Support (team leads) for both our Edina and St. Paul locations. This position is approximately 25 hours per week. The primary focus of this role is to provide support to the manager in the execution and continuity of retail operations while providing excellent customer service and meeting sales goals.

 

Requirements:

·         At least 2 years of retail experience

·         Management experience preferred

·         Flexible availability (to include some nights, weekends, and holidays)

·         Knowledge of food and cooking

Summary of Job Responsibilities

60% - Sales & Customer Service

                                20% - Obtaining Product Knowledge

                                20% - Ownership/leadership

 

Sales & Customer Service

·         Provide outstanding customer service at all times

·         Actively engage the customer to understand their needs, thereby increasing sales

·         Ring  transactions  on a  point of sale

·         Understand and communicate Cooks return policy for products, classes and crop shares

·         Resolve customer issues as they arise – involve managers as needed

·         Assist managers in various duties as assigned

·         Proactively sell classes

·         Proactively sell Crop Shares

·         Work at main events at Cooks (Inventory Count, Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving Open House, Christmas, New Year’s, Garage Sale, etc)

·         Make deposits as scheduled and assigned

 

Obtaining Product Knowledge

·         Attend Cooks trainings and vendor trainings

·         Provide training to other staff members

·         Audit 1 class per quarter

·         Proactively find product information to share with customers

 

Ownership/leadership

·         Ensure that all opening and closing tasks are complete

·         Ensure continuity of task flow

·         Make decisions about shift coverage according to the budget

·         Support the manager in the execution and continuity of retail responsibilities

·         Execute daily routines when manager is absent

·         Hold coworkers accountable to job description and manager’s requests

·         Maintain a clean and well-organized selling and storage space

·         Set up tasting/demo area at opening and put it away at close (refresh as needed throughout the day)

·         Replenish stock

·         Assist with inventory counts

·         Prepare transfers, special orders and out of stocks with appropriate procedures and paperwork

·         Alert manager if inventory needs adjusting

·         Record customer product requests

Riverview Economic Development Association 

Organization: The Riverview Economic Development Association (REDA) is a non-profit Community Development Corporation whose mission is to enhance the quality of life on Saint Paul’s West Side by cultivating a sustainable and vibrant business community. REDA is governed by a Board of Directors made up of community residents and business owners. Each year REDA produces the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta which draws over 100,000 people to District del Sol commercial corridor. During the year REDA staff works to build capacity of area business owners, attract new business to District del Sol, train entrepreneurs, and organize activities and other events to make the West Side a safe, attractive, and vibrant commercial area.

Internship available: October 2010 through August 2011.

Hours per week: Variable dependant on commitment and availability (10-20 hours/week)

Schedule: Varies. The REDA office is open Monday-Friday, 830am – 5pm. There will be some evening and early morning meeting expectations as well as opportunity to work remotely from time to time.

Description: By working with the staff at the Riverview Economic Development Association, a student intern will be exposed to the following activities:
  • Festival/Event Management and Marketing
  • Website Management
  • Community Organizing
  • Community Economic Development
  • Grant Writing
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in producing association events, including the REDA Annual Meeting, the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, and Music and Movies in District del Sol.
  • Serve on the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Planning Committee.
  • Support marketing and funding initiatives for REDA.
  • Gather market research and area demographic information.
  • Gain exposure to non profit work, assist with various committees, attend meetings, and learn about community development programs.
  • Website maintenance and improvements.
  • Help with administrative and clerical duties in the office

Preferred Qualifications:
  •  Interest in event planning and marketing.
  • Interest in community development work.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility.
  • Able to multitask well.
  • Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Compensation: A cash stipend is available based on the commitment and structure of the internship.
